Biography

Kay Paumier helps technology companies spread the word about their products and services, making them better known, more credible and more profitable. For more than 25 years, she has helped businesses and organizations effectively communicate their core strengths to the media, analysts, employees, clients, prospects, business partners and other audiences.
In the process, Kay has developed a reputation as a hands-on, senior-level consultant, adept at providing “high-level” strategic counseling, “lower-level” editing and everything in between.Since 1987, she has been an independent consultant, serving clients that range from Fortune 1,000 companies to start-ups, especially in the hardware, software and online areas.

Representative clients include Nokia, Memjet (printing technology), Fujitsu (computers and communications), iAsset (online channel management), CableWholesale, Novell (networking), Richard Sampson Associates (online construction software), and American Camp Association, Northern California.

Kay has helped these and other organizations increase demand for their products and services by improving their online and offline communication.Her services include public relations, writing, website content, presentations and more.

In the public relations area, she has generated coverage for her clients in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Investor’s Business Daily, The Economist, Scientific American, Fortune Magazine and Newsweek; on national TV news; on the covers of leading trade publications and in innumerable other “hits.”

Before founding Communications Plus in 1987, Kay was a vice president at D-A-Y Public Relations, a national PR firm. She also was an account executive at Russom & Leeper and Ruder & Finn Public Relations, both in San Francisco.Kay also:

  • Did in-house training for technology PR firms with offices in Silicon Valley and New York.
  • Earned the Accredited Public Relations (APR) certification from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

  • Taught PR at UC Extension, Santa Cruz; UC Extension Berkeley; the San Jose State University Professional Development Center; and at the Cisco Systems • San Jose Entrepreneur Center.
  • Received 17 local, national and international awards for her PR programs: from the Northern California Chapters of PRSA and the Business Marketing Association (BMA), from the Hermes Creative Awards, League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) and Marcom Awards.
  • Founded the Online Gobblydegook, Gibberish and Jargon Awards (www.GobbledygookAwards.com)
  • Is the Marketing and PR Director for Women in Consulting (www.WomeninConsulting.org).
